Project Looking Glass

Posted by Ben Rockwood on Jan 6, 2004

In all the Sun events that happened toward the end of the year at Sun Network and the Q4-03 event, something very very special slipped through the cracks in our reporting: Project Looking Glass. Similar in many ways to the now idle 3DWM project, Looking Glass is a Java driven desktop environment that is interacted with in 3D, incorporating existing 2D applications into a virtual 3D space, and allowing you to move them in 3D ways, flip them over, add or remove transparency to see through windows, etc. Make sure you look at the demo presented at Sun Network. If you’re interested, join the mailing list on the project page and get involved.
