Just reflecting on the speed increase of the G4... I ran the altivec
fractal program on both my 366MHz iBook (w/power saving off) and the
500MHz G4...

The iBook hit 225Mflops, not bad compared to a Cray-1.  That was 366MHz.
So, you would expect a 500Mhz G3 to hit about 300-325 or so.

The G4 500 hit just under 1.7 Gigaflops.

Freakin' amazing.  All that power on my desk.  Scary...
