If you want that kind of service then you have to pay for it. You
simply can't get full connectivity for what "Joe Jim-Bob WebSurfer"
pays (or expects).

If you're just paying for a "Joe J.B. Websurfer" account then you get
client-only access, and we'll decide exactly what that means w.r.t. our
own security and management requirements. :-)
(When I said "unless you have an authorised SMTP server" I meant "unless
you've paid up-front for that kind of service".)

Then you _are_ paying for the kind of service you want! :-)

That still doesn't mean that you can run a DNS server on an @Home
address....

That sometimes does work with the Rogers at Home tier-1 support, luckily....

People were shocked when I had two phone lines at home and modems on
both of them back in the 80's. These days everyone knows I have
exceptional connectivity (and most people even know I don't pay much in
real $$$ for it either! :-). But then I've been doing this "Internet"
thing since almost before there was a commercial Internet in Canada! ;-)

Hee hee! ;-)
