	After all the fuss about FDDI on these lists, I decided to look into
what it would run me to move a couple of machines over to FDDI for the hell 
of it. It seemed relatively reasonable (aside from the fact that I'm 
replacing something that works perfectly for me), and so I started looking
into the pricing for cables. Once I saw a picture of the cable, I realized
what those orange cables IBM had installed in my school back when it was 
built was :-)

	That is if my assessment is correct, is there anything else that uses
those cables? Those lines never became a topic of discussing beyond my 
teacher installing the transceivers to save us the trouble of running ether
up through the 10-floor building. They used to interlink the Token Ring 
concentrators for the labs of 386s we had.

	No kidding FDDI <-> FastE is expensive... I remember my teacher 
bitching about the 800$ transceivers when we installed them in the service 
closets to bring FastE to the lab we just installed. This was about 3 years 
ago.

	Heh, another piece of the puzzle filled in and another thing to go
learn about. Thank you :-)

	One thing I'm left wondering about is how rugged is this cabling? We 
treated it fairly carefully back then in high school, simply being told it was
expensive and delicate. I'm not sure I want delicate cabling around until I 
move out after college and get a dedicated room for these guys.
