Amy,

We can only speak to our experiences - we can't know about *all* public or
private schools.

Before I went to The Pennington School (high school), my father explained to
me that:

    "When you go to the new school, you'll find that someof the kids come
    from families with a lot of money, and some come from families without
    a lot of money. You should know that we have more than some, less
    than others.

    "Also, know that whatever money your mother and I have, is exactly
    that - ours. You don't have any money."

That helped me keep most of what went on in perspective.
