"Back in the day" national radio ads were sent out to
radio stations on records where afte each 30 second
spot, the record hit a "ring" that went around ontop
of itself, just like the end of a conventional record.
The idea was the DJ would drop the needle at the
beginnig of track 8 (say), and after the commercial
finished playing, the needle was "stuck" in a ring
that prevented it from going to the next commercial /
PSA...
