Theoretically, I would say a 20 Mhz 386 is enough for normal PC
home/office use.  However, there's this thing called "windows". Each
new version needs next year's processor in order to give you the feel
of 386 performance.

(Oh, and as someone else already pointed out, modern games.)

I'm perfectly happy with my 25 Mhz POWER system and a couple of 40 Mhz
SPARCs, but I spend most of my time at the cli, so that's understandable.
