[geeks] ebay electronic check

I might have just gotten a great deal on a USB CDRW (assuming that the
seller doesn't default). It was such a great deal, that I clicked on buy
it now despite the fact that the seller didn't indicate that he accepts
Money Orders (my usual way of paying for things). I sent him an email
asking if I could send him a money order.
However, this guy accepts ebay payments in addition to paypal. In case he
says no to the money order, I thought I might try the electronic check
payment option that ebay payments offers. The basic idea is that I enter
some information off my check, and ebay can process the check without
actually having the paper check. I enter things like check number, bank
routing number, and the checking account number, as well as personal
information.
I have two questions. Has anyone ever heard of any security breaches at
ebay where personal information was stolen? A quick search on google
didn't turn up anything.
Second, has anyone actually tried this feature?
If the electronic checking is a bad idea, and the guy refuses money
orders, I'll have to find a friend willing to loan me a credit or visa
check card. I have a person or two in mind, sister might be one (just
got her Mac card, don't know if she said it works as a visa debit card
or not though)...
