I typicaly use 'awk'.

When I was at cadence.com we came up w/ custom perl scripts which
reformatted sar output into pretty xplot-generated graphs. What are you
tracking? Have you played w/ the SE Toolkit yet? Have you looked at
SunMC (which you can d/l for free...)
