[geeks] linux/pc firewalls and multiple nics

I have found that Intel multiport server nics based on the Ether-Express
line perform quite well in linux. 4 of them would give you 8 nics.
Situation permitting you could assign multiple IPs to each nic, as long
as the subnet mask is the same. done properly you could have 8 16 24 32
or more subnets running through one box. If your network is that big
though, it screams hardware firewall at me.
