Nope.  The Pixar Image Computer II is a full stand alone machine.  It can be
used for lots of things, not just video editing.  Come to think of it, I 
don't think I've ever heard of them being used for video editing.  They 
were used for painting, compositing, and rotoscoping in the video processing
field.  They also were used for lots of medical imaging tasks, particularly
dealing with volumetrics, T.M.U.

The original Pixar Image Computer has it's own CPU units also, but it needs 
help from an attached SGI, Sun, or Symbolics.
