[geeks] USENET <-> Mail gateway?

I've become fond of reading my email because it's all just there in a flat
file. However, my netnews access is never that way. Does anyone here use a
MAIL <-> Netnews gateway, and if so, is there one that is independant of
needing INN?

(I typically use Leafnode+ for my news reading -- I *hate* *hate* *hate*
lag on news.)
