[geeks] Urk! Win 2K question...

I've fixed a problem like this before by

  A: Install MS Loopback adaptor driver (dummy net card driver essentially)
  B: Remove TCP/IP
  C: remove network adaptor driver
  D: reboot
  E: reinstall NIC driver
  F: Reinstall TCP/IP

  Odds are it's a damaged registry entry for TCP/IP or the NIC driver and 
the above will cure the problem.

  Oh, as always do the above logged into the local machine as administrator...
