Just one of the many reasons why I am no longer impressed with 3Com.

I own a Lanplex 2500, as do several other folks on this and other lists
and have recovered it from a nearly unbootable state. This meant I had to
deal with thier "knowledge base", etc.

I once contacted someone about shipping it off and having it "fixed" by
them for a sum. I believe I was quoted $250 and he made an obscure comment
about the difficulty in getting the system software out of 3Com. Seeing as
how I already had the software, I put the switch aside for about three
months, found the requisite ethernet card, and flashed it myself.

That damned switch cost me $40 for a *USED* 3C589C. If it weren't free,
I'd have screamed up and down about it.
