[geeks] GPIB on film recorders

I've been poking aroung ebay looking at film recorders, and if appears
that a lot of the more professional looking ones use GPIB to interface to
the controlling computer.  Now, I'm used to seeing GPIB (and the National
Instruments name, since one comes with an NI GPIB card) in scientific data
aquisition.  Is this the same GPIB?

Any one ever work with film recorders?  These things usually require special
RIP software, don't they...
