I've just this past year convinced my wife that $20 is better spent on DVD's;
even on our minimal 19" TV, the difference between DVD and VHS is incredible.
Her only complaint is that I tend to buy DVD's rather than rent them - I'd
rather spend $15 on something I'm likely to keep rather than spend $5 to rent
it first.  Part of that is my wife tends to run up the late fees...

For the wife and I, it ends up being about $20 every time we go to see a
movie.  We could, alternatively, spend that $20 on a new DVD and see it
several times.

One of this year's projects is to build an entertainment center with
integrated speakers, includinga powered subwoofer.  It will have outlets for
all the components, and a pwer distribution block for routing electricity to
those components.  This thing is going to Kick Ass!
