  Pity indeed, but keep in mind, the Alpha isn't gone just yet.  It
won't even be discontinued for a while yet.  I can make a phone call
and buy new (or nearly so) PDP8 gear which hasn't been made in 25
years...we'll be able to get Alphas for quite a while.
