For people without public sewage, they need their own method of
dealing with the waste the produce.  Usually this means it goes to a
septic tank, where bacteria breaks the solids down, and then the
liquid flows out to a leach field that slowly drains the waste into
the ground.  Pretty slick, except for when it breaks.
