[geeks] Firmware updating

Yeah I installed a minimum 32 bit core system then I downloaded it on
the PC ftp'ed it over... set it up and bam it was done...

I'm installing the 64 bit OS now.

I was only worried that the firmware CD required an SGI'ian support
contract to get... thank god... :-)
Now to figure out the monitor frequency problem. It comes and goes... I
think it's the monitor, though. I almost got rid of it by setting the
output-device screen:r1280x1024x67, but this is a cheap screen it turns
out... most of the time the U2 isn't detecting it quite right. It
returned to normal for a little while after I hooked up the 6091 and
then unhooked it and hooked the KDS back up (power-cycling in between).
1280x1024x76 doesn't work.

Does the thing normally go into 24 bit mode automatically for a clean
installed CDE?... or do I have to use ffbconfig.
