i hate to break this to you, but there are lots of schools that teach
sun hardware and software. the university of maryland has a huge lab
(wam.umd.edu) populated by ultra5's which they have for their
programming/CS students.
furthermore, for about $120, you can take sun courses online. the more
advanced they get, the more they cost. but i was able to take the sun
cluster overview and the OS install primer for $220. beat your brother
up, win an auction for a sparc 5/10/20, and go to town.
