Would that cause problems from the very beginning though?  But that is
a point.  Is your sister (I'm assuming that Geek's sister is also your
sister) running the DVD play through anything before the TV set?
Supposedly just running it through a VCR can cause problems, although
it didn't cause me any when I tried it.
