How so?  They are the same codebase, AFAIK.  Actually, some interface
differences I think - at least OpenOffice and Star Office 5.2 differed
greatly.  OpenOffice, at the time that Star Office 5.2 was current, was
much faster than SO5.2 and had a cleaner interface (IMO).
