[geeks] Orthogonal Persistence

Orthogonal Persistence.  What is this form of persistance orthogonal
too?  I keep running across the term, and it just doesn't make sense.
Why would I want a form of persistance that is perpendicular to ???  I
don't even know what it is perpedicular to, and what in the could
persistance be perpendicular to anyway?

Also, if there is orthogonal persistance, is there ortho-normal
persistance? 

Sometimes I wonder were people come up with their computer theory terms.
