Why does everything think that just because I can't manage to use a
Mac, I'm some sort of moron?  Wait, that didn't come out right, let
me try again. ;)

No, it was the server update.  At least, I -think- it was the server
update.  It's whatever the "Software Update" applet automagically
downloaded and installed for me.  Then, it rebooted and it was like
"beepbeepbeepbeepbeep", and I was like "hhuh?".
