I once experienced returning to my equipment storage at an offsite
location to find that someone took advantage of contractors working on
the floor to remove EVERYTHING of value (IBM and Compaq FRUs for the
support contract I was on) from locked cabinets and leave the crap (of
which there was plenty) along with the abused cabinets piled with the
construction waste. I never found out what happened. It wouldn't
surprise me if the stuff you found was not exactly meant to be thrown
out but was conveniently moved along with the garbage.
