Mac Managers suggests not using software update and manually
downloading the combo installers at least a week or two
after the updates come out.

Having been burned by the 10.2.4 update, I don't necessarily
ascribe to the former (manual application), but absolutely
subscribe to the latter (waiting 2 weeks).
