I've met some career sargeants and other hardasses just like him.  Some
even *more* over the top than him.

I don't find it all that out of character, especially not for someone
his age.

You are seeing it on television, possibly after editing has grossly
distorted the live event.  I hate the way they edit things on most
programs, especially those that show some technical thing.

Who knows... maybe he's getting too old for this sort of thing... :)

There are times for each, but most people have a really wrong idea of
how to use firepower.  Spray and pray is usually right after "Oh shit!"
because someone surprised you, and is temporary covering fire until you
can hide your ass.

But a generation trained by Hollywood thinks it is how you fight if you
have a machine gun, or for that matter, a fast firing pistol.
