Why in the HELL does -everything- have to be web-based these days?  Have
people completely lost the ability to write applications that don't use
CGI for data interchange?  Don't they realize that Java's, DrScheme's,
wxWindows', and Tk's GUIs are just about as portable and a -lot- more
powerful?  HTTP is an -awful- protocol for performing any sort of
lengthy, stateful transactions, and web browsers have grown to the point
that they dwarf Emacs, but people keep developing and "embracing" these
web-based widgets like they're Ambrosia.

In fact, it's almost as if you make an application that -isn't-
web-based, you're "backward" or "outdated".
