I'd say stick with "auto-negotiation" on the Catalyst. We have a few
Octanes running FastEthernet to 29xx-switches, and everything has failed
until we ran auto-negotiation in the switches. IRIX does auto by
default.
There IS a way to set this in IRIX, but I haven't found that out yet.
