What, no NeXT Cube?
As for the GigE on Macs, i was told by a tech at Apple (a guy
i *kinda* trust) that the gigabit portion of the built in
NICs is software based. In other words, like a Winmodem is
software based. To what extent this affects performance, i do
not know, but i dislike the concept enough to drop a new NIC
in my mothers G4 as soon as i can source one. It would
assuredly be sufficient if you are just playing around but if
you do a lot of large file transfers i would keep an eye out
for CPU usage and consider using another NIC.
