This is debatable. IRIX seems a bit more "snappy" and light
weight to me, but if i had to choose between the current IRIX
and Solaris 9 for a daily workstation, i'd be hard pressed to
choose the IRIX box. I suppose it all depends on what you are
doing in your daily activities but i get the distinct feeling
that IRIX lacks the same polish as Solaris, as far as desktop
interactivity is concerned. Then again, it could be that i am
just not accustomed to the IRIX way of doing things.
While i am on the subject, is there a way i can get IRIX to
stop placing focus onto whatever the mouse pointer is over?
As it is, if i am typing in an term window and the mouse gets
nudged away from the window (just the pointer, no buttons
being pressed) then the focus is taken away from my term
window and i'm no longer able to type.
I am also curious as to why GL screen savers can't be locked?
