I'm prejudiced against Tyan, but that's just me.

A friend of mine had this exact problem with a Tyan board.  IIRC, it's a
matter of that chipset not supporting the correct voltage.  And it was
not well known by ANYONE that the chipset had the problem.  His board
would work just fine with, for example, a nvidia TNT based AGP card, but
the geforce cards would make it puke.  He had the board sent to tyan
several times, once even sending the geforce card to tyan along with the
motherboard to have them look at it.  Eventually, he talked to an
engineer that told him that it would never work, and that there was
nothing they could do about it (this was after going back and forth with
them for something like 8 months) and that board would never work with a
geforce.
