Does that work for men?

Obviously a lot of people in the US did that during Vietnam.  I think it
is kinda lame.

My understanding of when we had the draft was that it wasn't
particularly hard for men from pacifist religious groups to be allowed
to do some sort of national service instead of being drafted during
Vietnam.
