I buy used stuff from companies that specialize in refurbishing and
reselling used stuff. They generally offer 90 day warranty.

Our current laser printer is a HP LaserJet 4050tn. While not a
"personal" laser printer it is very nice (JetDirect, PS emulation,
17ppm, 1600dpi, two 250 sheet trays), and I don't think we paid much
more than $500 for it.
