Well, then it would seem that part of the problem is done, in two 
possible aspects. The fact ID3v2 allows images makes sense, and further 
gives the impression that Apple isn't using anything special. Does no 
one edit the audio file? I would think there would have to be at least 
minimal editing in the process, and therefore it would be possible to 
have that editing process include adding the images, assuming of course 
that the id3lib path doesn't work.

As for Apple and their implementations, I really can't say why it 
doesn't work. Looking at my podcast's iTunes page, it does seem to me 
that the image you add there may actually be dictating the image used on 
your iTunes Music Store page, since that is what is on mine. Does the 
documentation on Apple's site specifically say it impact on the file as 
played in iTunes? Could you provide a link to the Apple documentation? I 
find their site very hard to navigate myself.

Also, is it possible to provide a link to the podcast and/or publisher? 
I am always interested in finding new podcasts.
