Hey guys! I don't normally do this but here goes!
Besides the thing with his mom and godaddy, Dave McGuire has been hit with
another punch - this time from the mortgage company. I'm forwarding his
e-mail with just the addresses removed in the hopes of helping him out.
He really could use the help!
If you don't have his e-mail please contact me and I'll be happy to give
it to you. (I didn't want to list it here for collection by spambots.)

A recent, drastic increase in my property taxes (thanks to hurricane
Charley) has nearly doubled my mortgage payment, and that has demanded
that I take steps to offset costs around here. So, I am seeking to
expand, at least somewhat, my small colocation business here.
I have a respectable data center, a lightly-loaded T1, backup power,
and some empty rack space. This is in my home, but I work here, so I'm
usually around. I am offering some "friendly" (i.e., non-"corporate")
colocation space. I'd prefer to host 1U or 2U rackmount chassis. My
current customers, all friends, are paying $50/mo via PayPal for a 1U
chassis and one IP address. Larger machines are negotiable.
I also have several Sun Netra T1-105 (1U UltraSPARC-IIi) systems
available for sale in a "buy it from me, ship me a system disk for it,
and host it here" deal. I've been getting around $150 for those with a
colocation deal, depending on memory config.
This is strictly a "friends and acquaintances" type of thing...I have
no interest in building up a large colocation business, just a few
machines for "friendlies" to help the bottom line here...anything more
would constitute a conflict of interest with my primary employer.
People desiring more "corporate" stuff like SLAs, contracts, and
similar things are advised to look elsewhere. I maintain a very solid
level of service, good enough for business-critical machines to be here,
but I just don't do the suit thing.
Anyway, please let me know if you or someone you know might be
interested. And I do feel bad about the blatantly commercialish
solicitation...I'd not do it if my situation hadn't just become a lot
more difficult.
