I have both an orinoco card (raped from a dead Apple Airport) and a
brand new LG WiFi PCMCIA card running. The orinoco is in a powerbook
1400, the LG in a 200 mHz pentium Acer laptop.

The easiest way to tell the difference is that the CARDBUS cards have
a solid copper ground strip over the contacts.
