I see the logic, but I may refrain a bit - I'll probably do two jacks in
each bedroom/upstairs office...

Absolutely - no daisy-chain except the already installed telco lines.

Here in NJ basements are the norm - but I think I will have someone do the
installs/wiring for me. I know myself, and I won't make time to do it until
everything else is done, and if I do that, it won't get done.
