I may just do everything through the serial interface, and make a fancy 
"black box with two buttons and an LED" enclosure for it...

According to the guy who designed the kit, if I'm not using a "real"
ASCII keyboard with it, I can run the entire thing off the +5V pads
near the PS/2 connector.  If I can wire that up, I'll run it off a 
Radio Shack wall-wart instead of the huge ATX power supply I'm using now.
