EFI is Intel's Extensible Firmware Interface
(http://www.intel.com/technology/efi/).  Intel has been trying to get
the PC world using it with little success.

Itanium-based machines have always used EFI, the Intel-based Apple
machines are the first non-Itaniums to use it.  Hopefully they won't be
the last.
