I'm happily running FreeBSD 6.1 SMP on a 4 CPU Netra 1405. It was 2 CPU, but
the extra 2
CPU's were really cheap on eBay and the plugged right in both hardware and
software.

In addition to FreeBSD there's also OpenBSD, of course. FreeBSD doesn't have
support for
the gigabit interfaces I'd like to use, but it does multiple hme just fine.
