I didn't really word the question right. It should have been split into
"are they any good", and "if it had a lot of RAM, etc".
I'm not hung up on the PE 2400 or the Kayak XU800, it just happens I was
able to get their technical documentation, and the hardware is the kind
of thing I'm looking for: dual CPUs, dual PCI busses, decent motherboard
I/O (for the time period), and seem to be reliable.
I could snag a desktop system very cheap, but rather not.
Unfortunately everyone seems to want a lot for those two, and I know
scrap about others.
Now that I think about it, SCSI isn't really a requirement since finding
new drives for a good price takes awhile. Pretty much anything should
be able to take a SATA controller.
