Maybe it's specific to the Windows port, but pressing Ctrl-F brings up
the "Find"...thing at the bottom of the window, wherein I can begin
typing text.  As soon as I type something that isn't found, FireFox
makes a sound somewhere between a fart and tapping on a microphone lead.

It's very irritating.
