Ah, that's the crucial piece of data right there.

I tried FreeBSD on one of my Sparcs, only to find that none of the
available terminal types for the installer would work on a Sun console.
Since I didn't have a serial-console cable at the time or a machine I
could usefully connect one to, that pretty much ruled out using FreeBSD
on that machine. OpenBSD, however, Just Worked.
