Neither would I, on the low end.

However: both the Dell and the Apple Pro are high end desktops with
motherboards based around the same Intel reference design, and largely
the same parts inside.

I would rather have the Apple too, but the Dell isn't that bad, and the
flexibility they offer when you order is important to a lot of people.

What I want is an Apple, with the same options.

I don't really think it would hurt Apple either.
