The messed up part of that arrangement was that the switch would run
-both- CatOS and IOS.  The switch processor would run CatOS, and the
route processor would run IOS, complete with separate console ports,
separate configuration files, and wildly different administrative
interfaces.

I suspect that there was also a later RSP option that combined both
functions onto a single module all managed by IOS, but $ork[-1] was
too cheap to spring for it (in 2004!!).
