The DVD I have of it is TWO SIDED, not dual layer. It stops in the
middle and you have to get up and flip it. Or maybe not. It might
just be better if you turn it off at that point. :-)

Verhoven is IMHO the best argument against national service. When he
finished his PhD in nuclear physics he went into the Dutch army as
his national service. Like every other army in the world they find out
exactly what you do best and assign you something completely different. :-)

They made him a film director.

His first Hollywood film was Robocop, which I hated because it ruined
the chance for the sequel to The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai across
the Eight Dimension". 

The actor that played Banzai (Peter Weller) played Robocop in the original
and enough sequels that he never really was able to get another role.

Eventually he ended up in "Odyssey Five", which by the end had many Banzai
references in it. The series bombed, the last 5 or so shows were shown here
but NOT in the U.S. Its producer Manny Coto was snapped up to rescue
Enterprise from the evil clutches of Rick Berman and Brandon Braga.

He failed, but Weller did a wonderful job in a two part episode as
an "Earth Firster". Coto went on to work on 24.
