This appears to be all my fault.

I am not much of a Forth programmer, and I made a mistake in my custom  
boot loader code.

Since the interpreter runs in the loader, mistakes are often fatal  
like this.

Basically my Forth error fed improper data to the rest of the kernel,  
and boom, down she went.
