Ummmmmm... no.
Yes, I've done that, but only to keep it quiet until the replacement arrives.
Besides, I don't think that would help this issue. I think the noise is a
characteristic of a sleeve fan mounted in this position.
Slightly alter case pressure and the noise goes away.
