There were literally thousands of systems you could use if you could
make a deal to get configured with them, or at least someone close by.
That's what I did: waggen was a machine that ODU configured a route to,
so the owner of that machine hooked my machine up. That gave me a
relatively short bang path.
Unfortunately, I had to pay 21 cents/minute (roughly) to transfer UUCP
packets, even though ODU was only about 15 miles away. Stupid POTS zones...
